Hare Mountain Rescue was created with one thing in mind, to create a team of instructors who are passionate about sharing the skills they've accumulated over years of experience with responders. The same responders who are at the tip of the spear, performing difficult rescues in the field. Our instructors bring with them a broad range of skills from many different backgrounds, SAR, Fire, Arborist, Water Rescue, Confined Space, Incident Command, Medical, Industrial, and Rock Climbing. We feel this large collection of information allows us to share skills which create a well rounded student. One who not only knows how to perform, but why to perform certain techniques during a rescue. This is why our students come back year after year and recommend us to their Sisters and Brothers in service to others.
We understand the physical stresses of the job. That's why we place a high emphasis on lightweight, efficient styles of rescue. Ounces equal Pounds and Pounds equal Pain. We've been there in the cold, the dark, the rain, miles from staging. We understand that you must carry everything in on your back to complete the task ahead. This is why we teach using small diameter ropes, software, and minimal hardware. Because once you perform the rescue the work is only half done. You still need to carry the victim and your gear back out safely.
We also know how expensive equipment can be, so we tailor our courses to teach how to use gear in multiple ways and still create a 10:1 safety factor in most of our systems. This difficult task is accomplished by teaching our students theory and not just "how to" build a safe system.
